Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

In the very beginning, around the fifteenth century, the diamonds being very costly were available to a very few people. Diamond was prized much above all the other metals present in that period. It was also regarded as the vital sign of beauty due to its distinct features. It is a fact that diamond can also stand against certain negative powers.

According to the records, the first place where diamond was used was somewhere in Betrothal. It was presented by Archduke Maximilian of Austria to Mary of Burgundy. He wrote to her that if she would accept that diamond ring he would believe she said yes.

In the olden days many royal and grand people used the tiffany style settings to add to the glory of their house. They also used the lamps of tiffany which were very beautiful and astonishing. Many ancient goldsmiths used their imagination and creativity to create holders for the diamonds. They also used distinct colors and enamel details to make it look more stunning. Thus, diamond cutting, polishing and painting techniques had been developed in the fifteenth century itself. Thus all these techniques though old are very attractive and stunning, till today.
